A/N: Too often, we try to conform to the standards of our society completely. Too often, people try to become just another part of a whole. All this because we've often accepted it as right. I've never really been part of that, or ever really wanted to be. I've always been 'eccentric', so to speak. So, this poem is a reflection on my viewpoints of society, I think you could say~ Inspiration for this poem came from the song 'Shoddy Utopia Policy', and every one of you should go look up the english version done by Rachie. No, really, do it. Do it now! Anyway, here's the poem:
~Free Writer~
Staring out the window blankly,
I watch the days pass on by,
Another thread tied in,
Another page written in the books.
Holding my notepad close to my side,
Hidden in my pocket,
I'm off running again.
Don't know where I'm headed to,
But I just traverse this barren road.
As the pages turn,
We leave behind our dreams,
Crushing them down with our realities.
"That isn't realistic!"
"Do you want to be poor?"
"You don't want that, really, do you?"
Yet I tuck those fragments in my pocket again,
Etching memories in the pages of my book.
I won't throw a single one away!
Isn't it a little too sad?
How do we so easily 'grow' and leave ourselves behind,
Changing to adapt to these silly, complicated rules?
I won't accept such things as 'common',
I won't repeat those mistakes.'
Happiness' is the goal I'm chasing,
Until the end of my book.
Running off,
I'll dash off through the rain,
Letting all the negativity wash off.
"Why can't you just be like the rest?"
They said
But wouldn't that be quite boring?
I'm a dreamer at heart
And I want to grasp at the thoughts just out of reach.
Writing down every moment,
I'll keep it all safe in that notepad
As I run down this endless road,
Chasing after 'Happiness.'
